Austria at it’s finest

Well this has been an

interesting week!

Hi friends,

This week I went from feeling super great and excited, to feeling really lost about life, to feeling great again. Am I still a teenager? We have yet to find out!!

Right after I sent the last blogpost, I found out that Malta was tightening its measures on the day I was supposed to arrive. I took the evening to decide what I was going to do. I either booked a flight

before next Wednesday, or I wouldn’t make it to Malta for a while.

I took a nice bike ride around Vienna, and then went to watch the Four Season by Vivaldi at the Karlskirche.

Once I got home, I bought a flight for Monday to Malta. There was no way I wasn’t going to make it.

I really milked my last few days in Austria.

On Saturday, I woke up at 5am to make it on a train that would take me across the country to a beautiful town called Hallstatt. It was a little hard to wake up, but once I got out of the house, it was so worth it. Hallstatt is arguably the most beautiful city that I’ve been to, and most of my vlog contains videos of the mountains and houses there. I definitely recommend taking a look.

I spent the day in Hallstatt, and went back to Vienna in the evening to meet up with my friend Elina, whom I met in German class while on exchange. She is also Ukrainian, but lives in Vienna for work. We went to my favourite amusement park and did some fun rides. It was a great way to end the day.

The next day was my last day in Vienna. It was definitely bittersweet, but I felt like I had literally seen everything I had wanted to in this short period of time, so I was glad.

I started the morning with a nice brunch at Augustin, a recommended café in the 15th. The breakfast was in fact delicious, and it set me up for a great day. I made my way to

the castle Schönnbrünn, because I can’t visit Vienna without visiting this place. In fact, ever since I went there in high school, it has been a dream to be able to go to this park and read a book. And I finally did it. I really felt like a local.

It started to rain, so I slowly made my way home, where I quickly picked up my piano book and headed straight to the Klavierhaus to practice my music.

In the evening, I went for a walk through Burggarten with the owner of my hostel, and ended the night by watching the EuroCup finals. I made a bet with a friend, and I was cheering for Italy, so I’m very very happy 😉

I took the plane early the next day, and once I arrived to Malta, I strangely felt very at home immediately. It’s like I never left, and I felt like I knew everything already. It was an amazing feeling.

I spent the first night at Anouk’s place, but by Tuesday I already got my own room in a house! It’s actually very cozy and nice, and the couple who lives here are super friendly. When I was on my way to check this place out, I got a call from the teaching school, and they confirmed my second interview for Monday! I’m super excited. The bar job is also looking good, and the owner promised me to have my papers in order by August 1st. This means I’ll also be able to get vaccinated. I know there are LOTS of opinions about this, but frankly

I’m just doing it so I can keep travelling, and especially so I can go to my motherland.  I did lots of cooking yesterday, so I’m finally getting into the groove of living here I believe.

I’ve been going to the beach, I joined a volleyball group, and I’m slowly continuing my previous hobbies. I have a friend who may be able to lend me his electrical piano while I’m here, and I’m ecstatic!

Tonight I’m meeting up with close friends and we will have a nice evening together. I’m feeling good and grateful.

Yours Truly.
Nastia
